Introducing Taratape Plus – 200m roll of 12mm polytape with mixed metal composition – 6 stainless steel strands and 3 tinned copper strands- for highest conductivity at 280 ohms/km.

Taratape Plus is a woven white 12mm polytape with 6
stainless steel and 3 tinned copper conductors for the highest conductivity-
280 ohms/km. 12mm tape width increases visibility compared to wire or braid but
reduces wind flapping and wear. Strengthened side ribs for longevity.
Orange tracer for visibility and easy identification immediately. Supplied as a
200m roll suitable for your geared reel. Quality manufacture with UV
stability.

Mixed Metal
Conductors

Combining stainless
steel and tinned copper conductor wires in an electric fence can offer a
balance of benefits between cost-effectiveness and performance. The inclusion
of tinned copper conductor wires enhances the overall conductivity of the
fence. Copper is known for its excellent conductivity, ensuring a strong and
consistent electric shock along the length of the fence. Copper itself is
resistant to corrosion but can react with fertilisers so we recommend removing
the fence when applying fertiliser. Stainless steel wires contribute to the
fence’s durability and strength. Stainless steel is highly resistant to
bending, stretching, and corrosion, ensuring the fence maintains its structural
integrity over time. This enhances the fence’s ability to withstand pressure
from animals, wind, and other environmental factors, reducing the likelihood of
breakage or damage.

Advantages of
Polytape:

  • Polytape is typically wider and often
comes in white with contrasting stripes, making it highly visible to both
livestock and humans reducing the likelihood of accidental contact with
the fence, improving safety for both animals and farmers.
  • Polytape generally has more surface
area in contact with the air compared to wires and braids, which enhances
its conductivity and ensuring a consistent and effective electric shock
along the length of the fence, especially in areas with heavy vegetation
or poor grounding. However, polytape does catch more wind and is more
prone to flapping which can increase wear over time.
  • The wider profile of polytape
distributes the electric shock over a larger area upon contact, reducing
the risk of injury to animals which can be beneficial for animals prone to
    testing new fences, minimising entanglements.
  • Polytape can be easier to handle and
install compared to wires and braids, especially for those new to electric
fencing and is more forgiving when it comes to proper spacing and tension
    during installation, reducing sagging.
  • Polytape is typically less prone to
stretching compared to wires and braids, helping it maintain tension over
longer distances and in varying weather conditions, minimising the need
    for frequent adjustments or repairs.
