Creep feeding allows lambs access to extra feed or a different, while excluding the ewes, especially during times of limited feed availability. Lambs will then be suckling milk and gaining extra feed to make up the short-fall in their rations. Access to the feed via a ‘creep’ or opening in a fence or gate large enough for the lambs to pass but restricts ewes from entry.
